The Yaeger CPA review course was not the only CPA review course I ever used. After using a different study course, I failed three out of four sections of the CPA exam. That was when I opted for the Yaeger's Home Study Course. The result was better than expected as I succeeded in passing the three sections with impressive results.
The Yaeger website claims that students who have studied the Yaeger CPA review course materials have an 88% pass rate on the CPA exam. Dr. Phil Yaeger has helped candidates prepare for the exam for over 30 years. Dr. Yaeger and his team offers something that unique and distinctive from competitors - an "Instructors Hotline" (an 800 number) that people can call to ask questions regarding the key concepts or about the CPA exam in general. I made plenty of calls to this number and have talked with very patient professors (including Dr. Yaeger himself a couple of times) who never ended the call until I had no further questions.
I found the lecture videos quite engaging and led by well qualified lecturers. The videos kept to a a simple format where lecturers explained the important concepts and worked through multiple choice questions and examples. The good thing about the Yaeger system is they concentrated on materials with a higher chance of turning up on the exam. Similarly, they would tell candidates to spend time on doing simulation questions that have the highest chances of turning up in the actual exam.
Also worth a mention are Yaeger's cram DVDs which could be responsible for adding between 5 to 15 points to your exam results. Each DVD teaches a reduced version of a single CPA section and lasts 7-16 hours. These cram DVDs are aimed at highlighting the candidates weakest areas and adding strength to those areas just before the exam. Even students who use another CPA review course can gain knowledge from these cram DVDs by using them as supplementary, last-minute study materials.
All Yaeger CPA review course materials are are revised annually, including lesson videos which are recorded annually. Thus, the student can have confidence they are learning from the most suitable information.
The cost of the Yaeger products surpised me as it is less than other CPA exam review courses - despite better quality than some. Overall, I am thrilled with the Yaeger CPA review course and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone trying to succeed in the CPA exam.
